Position Summary
A Requisitioner (often titled as a Maintenance Requisitioner, Purchasing Assistant, or Parts Room Clerk) is responsible for researching, ordering, and managing inventory for maintenance parts, supplies, and services needed for poultry processing operations. This role acts as a bridge between the maintenance/production teams and vendors to ensure operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Purchasing & Procurement: Research, source, and place orders for maintenance-related parts and services.
- Inventory Control: Maintain accurate inventory records, receive deliveries, and manage the parts room, ensuring it is clean, safe, and organized.
- System Management: Utilize software systems (such as SAP or Eptura) to process purchase orders and track inventory.
- Vendor Communication: Communicate with vendors to check availability, pricing, and shipping status.
- Support & Coordination: Act as a backup for the division purchasing coordinator, participate in special projects, and support the hatchery or feed mill operations with purchasing needs.
- Cost Analysis: Perform price comparisons to ensure cost-effective purchasing decisions.
Qualifications
- Experience: Previous experience in a parts room, inventory control, or purchasing role (ideally within an industrial or manufacturing setting) is often required.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in email, spreadsheets (Excel), and ERP software (SAP/Eptura) is necessary.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with maintenance supplies or poultry processing equipment is beneficial.
- Abilities: High attention to detail, ability to multitask under pressure, and strong communication skills.
Working Conditions
- Environment: The role frequently operates within a, very loud, wet, or humid plant environment with moving mechanical parts.
- Safety: Strict adherence to safety protocols, including wearing protective equipment (hair net, beard net, gloves, smock, slip-proof boots, ear protection).
This role is sometimes combined with "Receiver" or "Maintenance Support Coordinator" positions.
