Role Overview / Purpose and Scope

An Industrial Maintenance Technician at Farmer Focus plays a critical, hands‑on role in keeping production operations safe, reliable, and efficient. The technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, installing, and optimizing a wide range of mechanical and automated systems that support daily plant operations. This role combines preventative maintenance, rapid troubleshooting, and continuous improvement to minimize downtime and ensure equipment performs at peak levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance of machinery and equipment to ensure smooth business and production operations.

  • Disassemble machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs.

  • Examine parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear.

  • Repair or replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery and equipment.

  • Ability to work in all departments in the processing plant environment, which includes cold, damp conditions.

  • Clean, lubricate and adjust parts, equipment, and machinery.

  • Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs.

  • Provide a means of notification/communication during non-working hours for emergencies. Respond to emergency call-ins within 30 minutes.

  • Ensure shop and surrounding areas are kept clean by the removal of all debris in work areas, work benches and break rooms.

  • Ensure a safe work environment by eliminating unsafe acts or conditions.

  • Be proficient in cutting and welding, hydraulics, filter systems, pipe fitting/plumbing, operations of shop equipment, sheet metal fabrication and pneumatics, electrical wiring and motors.

  • Perform other responsibilities, as needed, to support Farmer Focus business objectives.

Qualifications

  • Proven industrial/manufacturing maintenance or electrical experience

  • Knowledge and understanding of good safety practices

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills and have basic math skills.

  • Ability to organize the tasks to be performed and at times to monitor and oversee quality of work being performed.

  • Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools to precision instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.

  • Ability to work with or near animal blood.

  • Must be able to read, write, and comprehend English.

  • Must be self-motivated and be able to work with minimal supervision.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Travel

Required to access the poultry production environment. Must be able to tolerate the varying heat, wet, and chill of the plant. Hearing and eye protective equipment required in the production area. Required to wear hair and beard nets in the production area.
