Role Overview / Purpose and Scope

The IT Administrator is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting IT equipment across Farmer Focus operations. This role supports daily business and production needs by ensuring equipment such as scales, production terminals, printers, scan guns, access points, computers, switches, conference room equipment, and phone systems are operational and properly maintained.

The IT Administrator works closely with Production, Maintenance, and other departments to support daily operations, assist with new equipment installations, manage user access, respond to IT requests, and support new hardware implementation projects. This position plays an important role in maintaining system reliability, supporting internal users, strengthening IT processes, and ensuring technology needs are met across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and support IT equipment, including scales, production terminals, printers, scan guns, access points, computers, switches, and related hardware.
  • Interact with Production and Maintenance departments to ensure IT equipment is operating properly to support daily operations.
  • Work closely with Maintenance when new equipment is being installed to support production.
  • Participate in projects involving new IT hardware implementation to ensure IT requirements, equipment, and services are identified and obtained.
  • Maintain user access on the corporate network and in key software applications.
  • Create new user accounts, roles, and access permissions as needed.
  • Terminate employee access when notified by Human Resources.
  • Manage IT equipment in conference rooms and train users on how to effectively use the equipment.
  • Set up new computers and assist new employees on their first day with accessing computers and applications.
  • Manage the procurement, installation, and training related to the corporate phone service
  • Assist with maintenance and configuration of company networks.
  • Monitor new IT requests and address requests in a timely manner.
  • Diagnose and repair IT equipment that fails to operate properly or work with vendors to complete repairs as needed.
  • Support vendor management for IT purchases, repairs, and services.
  • Provide training to users and groups when new equipment is deployed.
  • Support and use IT ticketing systems to track, prioritize, and resolve requests.
  • Follow, support, and enforce internal control processes and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 2 or more years of experience working with IT equipment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • Experience installing, troubleshooting, repairing, setting up, and replacing IT equipment.
  • Experience with Active Directory.
  • Experience with Office 365.
  • Experience with access point management.
  • Experience using IT ticketing systems.
  • Experience supporting IT equipment procurement, vendor coordination, purchases, and repairs.
  • Ability to diagnose IT equipment issues and work independently or with vendors to resolve problems.
  • Ability to support corporate network access and key software application access.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with users, vendors, Production, Maintenance, HR, and other internal teams.
  • Ability to train users in new equipment, conference room technology, phone systems, and other IT tools.
  • Ability to follow, support, and enforce internal control processes and procedures.
  • Ability to work on-site and support technology needs in both office and production environments.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the role with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related discipline.
  • Experience supporting IT systems in manufacturing, production, food processing, poultry processing, or plant environment.
  • Experience supporting production technology, including scales, scan guns, production terminals, printers, access points, and network switches.
  • Experience managing corporate phone systems.
  • Experience supporting new hire technology setups and onboarding.
  • Experience maintaining and configuring company networks.

New team members must be able to pass a drug, alcohol and background screening post-offer prior to the start of their employment. The Immigration Reform and Control Act requires that verification of employment eligibility is documented for all new employees by the end of their third day of work.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Travel

Work is based primarily in Farmer Focus corporate offices to support meetings, team cohesion, collaboration, and daily IT operations. This is an on-site position. The position may require frequent access to the production environment to support production technology, troubleshoot equipment, assist with installations, and respond to IT needs. The team members must be able to tolerate varying heat, wet, and chill conditions within the plant. Hearing and eye-protective equipment are required in the production area. Hair and beard nets are required in the production area. Additional personal protective equipment may be required based on task, location, and safety requirements. This role may require regular use of computers, phones, network equipment, production technology, hand tools, IT hardware, and office equipment. The position may also require standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting or moving IT equipment, accessing production areas, and traversing a two-story staircase multiple times per day.
