Role Overview / Purpose and Scope

The Industrial Electrician is responsible for supporting safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations by troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and inspecting electrical and electronic systems, equipment, and machinery. This role performs preventive maintenance, equipment repairs, electrical diagnostics, and related documentation while following OSHA regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, company safety requirements, and food production standards.

The Industrial Electrician plays an important role in reducing equipment downtime, supporting production continuity, maintaining safe working conditions, and ensuring electrical systems and equipment operate properly in a fast-paced poultry processing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Read, interpret, and understand manufacturer equipment manuals, electronic diagrams, electrical schematic diagrams, and other technical documents.

  • Perform preventive maintenance as assigned.

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical and electronic systems, machinery, equipment, and related components.

  • Generate and submit required paperwork related to work performed, including preventive maintenance sheets, work orders, and work record logs.

  • Perform equipment repairs and daily work in compliance with OSHA regulations, lockout/tagout requirements, and company safety guidelines.

  • Inform maintenance and production supervisors of potential equipment issues, safety concerns, or operational problems.

  • Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools to precision instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.

  • Provide all hand tools needed to safely perform the job.

  • Move throughout assigned areas while carrying required equipment and tools needed to troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventive maintenance.

  • Access vertical heights as required to perform repairs, preventive maintenance, and equipment monitoring.

  • Work in open and confined spaces as required.

  • Wear and use required protective and safety equipment as directed by the company, which may include self-contained breathing apparatus.

  • Organize assigned tasks and complete work efficiently, accurately, and safely.

  • Monitor and support the quality of work being performed.

  • Support a safe work environment by following all safety practices and identifying potential hazards.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Industrial, manufacturing, or plant electrical maintenance experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Electrical maintenance experience in a food processing, poultry processing, manufacturing, or production environment.

  • Experience troubleshooting production equipment, motors, controls, sensors, electrical panels, or related plant systems.

  • Experience using preventive maintenance systems, work orders, and maintenance documentation.

  • Experience working in confined spaces or elevated work areas.

  • Familiarity with plant safety programs, PPE requirements, and production equipment repair procedures.

New team members must be able to pass a drug, alcohol and background screening post-offer and prior to the start of their employment. The Immigration Reform and Control Act requires that verification of employment eligibility be documented for all new employees by the end of their third day of work.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Travel

Work is conducted primarily in a manufacturing and poultry production environment. This role requires access to the poultry production environment and assigned maintenance areas. The team member must be able to tolerate varying heat, wet, and chill conditions within the plant. The role may require exposure to temperatures ranging from approximately 28 degrees to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, including ambient and high-humidity conditions. The team member may handle product ranging from approximately 25 degrees to 50 degrees Fahrenheit and may be exposed to noise levels ranging from approximately 50 dB to 110 dB. The team member may also be exposed to chemicals used in a poultry and food processing facility. This position requires the ability to stand for 8 to 14 hours, work outside in all seasonal weather conditions, move throughout assigned areas while carrying tools and equipment, climb ladders, and reach vertical heights up to 150 feet to perform repairs, preventive maintenance, and equipment monitoring. Work may occur in open areas, confined spaces, and areas with wet or moist floors, including metal and plastic grating surfaces. Hearing and eye protective equipment are required in the production area. Hair and beard nets are required in the production area. Additional personal protective equipment may be required based on task, location, and safety requirements, which may include self-contained breathing apparatus.
