Position Summary
The Process Engineer is responsible for analyzing, designing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. This role drives continuous improvement through lean manufacturing principles, develops standardized work documentation, and collaborates cross-functionally to implement best practices across all phases of production. The Process Engineer also leads data-driven investigations, supports new product launches, and ensures production systems are scalable, sustainable, and aligned with company goals.
Position Responsibilities
- Evaluate and improve on processes in manufacturing systems
- Develop and implement systems that optimize all phases of production process
- Improve production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs, and changeovers
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, OEE, KPI’s, Time Studies and other manufacturing improvement and reporting systems
- Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) for production teams.
- Improve process capability and production volume while maintaining and improving quality standards
- Evaluate engineering designs for production
- Evaluate processes for new products and existing changed products
- Collect, record, and transcribe production data
- Develop and present results in reports
- Provide suggestions during incident investigations
- Investigate, advise, and implement corrective actions
- Work with equipment designers and manufacturing officers to develop a cost-effective and working production process
- Design and implement lean material flow systems including 1-piece flow, Kanban replenishment, and pull-based/JIT production
- Support inventory accuracy through min/max management and value stream mapping to eliminate waste
- Ensure projects are completed on time
- Research and purchase new manufacturing technology and equipment
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in engineering or related sub-field such as Industrial, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work well independently and with a team
- Proficiency with computer and information technology
- Microsoft suite
- AutoCAD and Inventor or similar 3D Modeling Software
- Thorough understanding of scientific and mathematical principles
- Thorough understanding and use of basic manufacturing equipment and terminology
Ideal Candidates Will Also Have
- Specialized industry-specific training
- Lean manufacturing and 5S
- Six sigma a plus
- Problem Solving Methodologies
- ERP and MES Experience
