Exterior Design / Release Engineer

Position Summary

Seeking an experienced and driven Exterior Design/Release Engineer (DRE) to lead the design and development of exterior components and assemblies. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality, cost-effective, and manufacturable solutions that meet performance and program targets.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of exterior components and related structures
• Define and execute functional objectives to meet performance targets
• Manage full lifecycle of component development, including cost, mass, timing, and manufacturability
• Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams, suppliers, and external partners
• Ensure designs meet all regulatory and safety requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (ABET accredited preferred)
• 8+ years of experience in vehicle design (interior and/or exterior trim)
• Strong knowledge of plastic and composite component design
• Familiarity with NHTSA/FM VSS regulations related to exterior systems
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
