About the Opportunity

A fast-growing global manufacturer of automated sheet metal fabrication machinery is looking for a Sales Engineer to join their US sales team in Elgin, IL. This is a brand new position created due to strong business growth β€” the company is riding significant momentum right now driven by surging demand for data center builds and electrical enclosure manufacturing.

This role is built for an engineer who wants to sell β€” not a traditional sales rep and not a traditional engineer. If you have a mechanical or manufacturing engineering degree and a genuine hunger to get in front of customers, build relationships, and close large capital equipment deals, this is the opportunity to launch a high-earning sales career in a niche, high-value space.

You will report directly to the Sales Director and receive hands-on mentorship from day one. New graduates are welcome β€” the right attitude and engineering degree matter far more than years of experience.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Prospecting new business through LinkedIn, cold calling, and networking within the manufacturing sector
  • Building and managing a pipeline of manufacturer prospects across industries including HVAC, appliances, construction, electrical, furniture, and data centers
  • Selling automated sheet metal fabrication lines through a consultative, longer-cycle sales process
  • Conducting product presentations and demonstrations with manufacturer decision-makers
  • Logging activity and managing pipeline in CRM
  • Collaborating with the Sales Director to develop territory and account strategies

What We're Looking For

  • Engineering degree β€” Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or closely related field β€” required
  • Genuine willingness and motivation to sell β€” this is a sales role first
  • Comfortable with LinkedIn outreach, cold calling, and networking as primary prospecting methods
  • Patient and process-oriented β€” this is a relationship and consultative sale, not a quick close
  • Coachable, self-motivated, and technically curious
  • New graduates welcome β€” drive and hunger matter more than experience here

Nice to Have

  • 1-2 years of sales or customer-facing experience
  • Familiarity with sheet metal fabrication, punching, bending, or manufacturing automation
  • CRM experience
